Our Major Initiatives
Ozanam Bhavan - Cancer Patient Care
Established in 1995, Ozanam Bhavan has been providing free accommodation and nutritious meals to economically disadvantaged cancer patients and their caregivers undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode.
One of the first initiatives of its kind in the region, Ozanam Bhavan has, over the years, become a beacon of hope for thousands of families facing the challenges of cancer treatment. Beyond offering shelter and nourishment, it also serves as the operational centre for many of the humanitarian and charitable programmes undertaken by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Thamarassery Central Council.
Driven by the spirit of compassion and service, Ozanam Bhavan continues to provide comfort, dignity, and hope to those in need, regardless of their background or financial circumstances.
Ozanam Bhavan Annex – Dialysis Patient Care Centre
To address the growing needs of patients undergoing long-term dialysis treatment, we are developing a dedicated residential facility comprising 20 bath attached rooms. The centre will provide free, safe, and hygienic accommodation for dialysis patients and their caregivers, ensuring comfort and dignity throughout their treatment journey.
Sneha Sparsham (Touch of Love)
Sneha Sparsham is our flagship community outreach programme designed to support economically disadvantaged families, patients, students, and vulnerable individuals through sustainable humanitarian services. The four activities coming under this project are:
- Dress Bank
- Palliative Care Equipment Bank
- Educational Support
- Food Support Programme
Ozanam Guidance Cell
A free professional guidance and counselling service offering academic mentoring, remedial coaching, subject-specific assistance, child counselling, and family counselling. Delivered by experienced educators and counsellors, the service is available through telephone consultations and in-person appointments at Ozanam Bhavan.
Ozanam Job Portal
A free employment platform connecting job seekers with employers across diverse sectors. The initiative promotes sustainable livelihoods by facilitating recruitment, career opportunities, and workforce development.

Supporting academically deserving students from economically disadvantaged families through scholarships and educational financial assistance, ensuring that financial limitations never become a barrier to quality education.
Mangalavartha Matrimony
A trusted, faith-based matrimonial platform dedicated exclusively to the worldwide Christian Catholic community. The platform enables Catholic brides, grooms, and families to build meaningful connections rooted in shared faith, Christian values, and the sacred vocation of Holy Matrimony. It offers a secure and reliable environment while giving special attention to Catholic singles aged 28 years and above.

Nursing & Allied Health Sciences Admission Support
A career guidance initiative assisting students seeking admission to Nursing and Allied Health Sciences programmes at reputed institutions across India. The programme offers professional counselling, admission assistance, scholarship guidance, and institutional support, empowering aspiring healthcare professionals to achieve academic excellence and meaningful careers.
Devagiri Medicals – Affordable Healthcare for All
Healthcare should never be a privilege reserved only for those who can afford it. Guided by this conviction, the five Conferences of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Joseph's Church, Devagiri, under the Thamarassery Central Council, established Devagiri Medicals, a fair-price pharmacy located near the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode.
The pharmacy provides quality medicines, surgical consumables, wound care products, and other essential healthcare items at affordable prices, helping individuals and families reduce the growing financial burden of medical treatment.
Special care is extended to patients living with chronic illnesses such as cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and other long-term medical conditions that require continuous medication and regular medical support.
A defining feature of this initiative is its commitment to serving the poor and marginalized. Following a proper assessment, deserving patients who are unable to afford treatment receive essential medicines completely free of charge. Whenever possible, emergency medicine assistance is also provided to ensure that no one is denied treatment because of financial hardship.
More than just a pharmacy, Devagiri Ozanam Medicals serves as a community healthcare support centre dedicated to compassion, dignity, and service. Its mission is to:
- Make quality medicines affordable and accessible to all.
- Provide free medicines to deserving patients in need.
- Support palliative care and home-based patients.
- Supply surgical consumables and advanced wound care products at fair prices.

Snehalayam – A Home of Love and Hope
Snehalayam Thiruvambady, is a compassionate residential care home dedicated to serving some of the most vulnerable members of society. It provides free shelter, nutritious food, clothing, medical care, and emotional support to orphaned children, destitute individuals, elderly persons, and patients who have been abandoned or are no longer supported by their families.
The residents of Snehalayam come from various parts of Kerala, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion. Many have nowhere else to turn due to poverty, illness, old age, disability, or social isolation. Snehalayam offers them not only a safe place to live but also the dignity, love, and sense of belonging that every human being deserves.
Managed in the true Vincentian spirit of charity and compassion, Snehalayam serves as a living witness to Christ's love by restoring hope and human dignity to those who are forgotten by society. Through the generous support of benefactors, volunteers, and well-wishers, the institution continues to provide holistic care and remains a beacon of hope for countless lives across Kerala.
